“You know why there’s a Second Amendment? In case the government fails to follow the first one.” —Rush Limbaugh
The IRS (Internal Revenue Service) has been buying up ammunition even as Democrats aim to limit ammunition availability and institute more strict gun control, according to Breitbart, Gateway Pundit, and other available documentation. Thomas Jefferson, citing another expert, once said that disarming the citizenry benefitted only assailants, not the assaulted; in other words, gun control benefits criminals, not victims. Which, in light of the hundreds of Americans being tortured in jail for trumped up Jan. 6 charges, and in light of the US government’s increasingly brazen efforts to attack constitutional rights, indicates that the US government could well be classified as an assailant. In which case, disarming the citizenry is extremely beneficial to the current corrupt, tyrannical regime.
It is well here to keep two key historical facts in mind: firstly, that, before the American Revolution, the British government sought to disarm American citizens so as to prevent them from fighting tyranny; and, secondly, that the same tactic of gun confiscation and preventing gun ownership was later used to try and keep black Americans oppressed. Two quotes capture the key points of these facts. “Forty years ago, when the resolution of enslaving America was formed in Great-Britain, the British parliament was advised … to disarm the people. That it was the best and most effectual way to enslave them,” Founding Father George Mason said. And, many years later, former slave Frederick Douglass insisted, “A man’s rights rest in three boxes: the ballot box, the jury box, and the cartridge box.”
As the Founding Fathers recognized, the rights of the Constitution’s First Amendment (freedom of speech, religion, etc.) depend on the right to keep and bear arms in the Second Amendment. The only thing stopping a tyrannical government from taking away rights is an armed citizenry. We already have rigged elections—what do we think would stop the government from oppressing us if we are completely unable to defend ourselves?
“[Gateway Pundit, emphasis added] According to a report by Breitbart, the Internal Revenue Service has spent hundreds of thousands of dollars buying ammunition, raising concern about why a government agency is buying ammunition that the administration plans to restrict further in the coming months.
On Saturday, Congressman Matt Gaetz told Breitbart that the IRS spent approximately $700,000 ‘between March and June 1’ purchasing ammunition.
Gaetz. . .said, ‘There is concern that this is part of a broader effort to have any entity in the federal government buy up ammo to reduce the amount of ammunition that is in supply, while at the same time, making it harder to produce ammo.’
The Congressman went on to propose a potential scenario where federal agencies are buying up ammunition and putting citizens in a situation where they cannot exercise their Second Amendment rights due to the inability to get ammunition.
He expressed concern that the government intended to reduce ammunition production ‘and, on the other hand, [soaks] up the supply of it.’ It is something he feels is a direct violation of the rights of Americans.
According to documents from usaspending.gov, the IRS’s ammunition purchases ranged from $3,201 worth of ammo at one time to $92,000+ worth of ammo at one time. . .According to a report from OpenTheBooks published in 2020, the IRS had stockpiled 4,600 guns and five million rounds of ammunition as of January 2019.
According to the Government Accountability Office the ammunition breakdown at the time included:
3,151,500 Pistol and revolver rounds
1,472,050 Rifle rounds
367,750 Shotgun rounds
56,000 Fully automatic firearm rounds
More interesting is that the IRS does not follow any regulations concerning the issuance, use, and accountability of the agency’s staff carrying such weapons. . .According to reports from the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA), the IRS has repeatedly failed to ensure that procedures relating to firearms are properly followed. . .A TIGTA report found that special agents at the IRS Criminal Investigation Division (IRS-CI) accidentally fired their weapons more often than they intentionally fired them.
Additionally, the IRS has come under scrutiny in the past for the harsh tactics it used to enforce the tax code, including incidents involving armed agents.”
PA Gov. Tom Wolf has already admitted that new proposed Red Flag gun legislation could lead to gun confiscation from people who make social media posts deemed “cryptic” or erratic—and that’s from someone (Wolf) who supports the legislation. The US government is not concerned about crime, it is concerned about control.
Thank you for this. Thank you very very much.
