Dred Scott and Vax Mandates: Vaccination Is the New Segregation
Joe Biden’s recent speech in Illinois for Clayco was a tangled web of lies, baseless self-aggrandizement, mental meanderings, and attacks on the unvaccinated. Particularly the latter. If there is any speech that illustrates the total “othering” of the unvaxxed, the perception of the unvaxxed as selfish fools who have no right to make medical decisions for themselves, who are literally killing people and making everyone around them miserable, it was this speech. And I was struck, as I listened, with how much some of the ideas and even the rhetoric Biden was using were similar to the racist, segregationist, pro-slavery rhetoric of the 19th century Democrat Party.
Below are just a few quotes from Biden’s embarrassing speech:
“The fact is, this has been a pandemic of the unvaccinated, unvaccinated. The unvaccinated over crowd our hospitals, overrun our emergency rooms and intensive care units, the unvaccinated are, are leaving no room for someone with a heart attack, in need of a cancer operation, and so much more, because they can’t get the ICU, they can’t get the operating rooms. The unvaccinated also put our economy at risk. . .[I instituted vax mandates] where I had the authority to do that. . .vaccination requirements result in more people getting vaccinated. . .more lives are being saved. . .I know these decisions aren’t easy. . .Second thing I’d like to say today, a report shows that vaccination requirements are good for the economy. . .So for God’s sake, for your own sake, for the sake of your families, get vaccinated. . .it’s in our own naked interest.”
Tucker Carlson said sarcastically of Biden, “He’s got your well-being at heart,” pointing out that, per Biden’s remarks, the unvaccinated are “destroying our economy. They are killing our people.”1 Carlson noted that Biden didn’t really cite the “science, such as it is.” This is key because, of course, all the science coming out is actually showing how ineffective, how dangerous, and even how deadly the vaccines are. No wonder Biden is not making Congress or the federal courts accede to his vax mandate.
“As you watch it, ask yourself, has any President in our history ever talked about millions of American citizens like this? This is the way Presidents talk about foreign enemies or dictators talk about enemies in their midst,” Tucker said. I think he is right about that. Let us ask another question, however. “Has any politician in our history ever talked about millions of Americans like this?” The answer is yes.
There was another time in history when Democrats used a pseudo-intellectual “science” and twisted “religious” rhetoric to prove the inferiority of a whole group of their fellow beings. The Dred Scott decision of 1857 is infamous now as defending the (spurious) constitutionality of slavery, but it did more than that. Taney said that people of African descent were not and essentially could not be citizens. Laughably, Taney quoted the Declaration of Independence, saying “all men are created equal,” and then tried to claim that this proved that black slaves were not citizens, that only whites were meant by the Declaration (actually Washington’s revolutionary army was fully racially integrated and free blacks could and did vote in America when the Constitution first came into effect)! And this is all for the “benefit” of the blacks as well as the whites, of course. Not to mention the economic value.
Let’s see, a supposedly benevolent Democrat politician totally misuses a pillar of American legal thought to justify his actions, misinterprets it entirely, vests himself with power he doesn’t really have, and authoritatively says he has the right to decide the fate of another human being, that human having no right to decide for himself, for the person’s own “benefit” and the benefit of the economy and others in society. . .is this starting to sound familiar?
In the Dred Scott decision, written by Democrat SCOTUS Chief Justice Taney (who was a “Catholic,” incidentally, just like Joe Biden), is the following passage:
“[Blacks] had for more than a century before been regarded as beings of an inferior order, and altogether unfit to associate with the white race, either in social or political relations; and so far inferior, that they had no rights which the white man was bound to respect; and that the negro might justly and lawfully be reduced to slavery for his benefit. He was bought and sold, and treated as an ordinary article of merchandise and traffic, whenever a profit could be made by it.”
Interesting how some of the language, or at least the ideas behind the language, match up. Slavery was for the “benefit” of the “negro,” imposed by the enlightened and benevolent whites, just as forcing the Covid jab is for the “benefit” of the unvaxxed, forced on them by the benevolent and enlightened vaxxed. The blacks had “no rights which the white man was bound to respect;” just as the unvaxxed have supposedly forfeited all rights by not getting the jab (Biden noted that the unvaccinated could not claim the right to bodily autonomy).
The blacks were “inferior,” just as the unvaxxed are treated as second-class citizens. The blacks were not allowed to “associate” with the “white race, either in social or political relations,” just as the unvaxxed are being “segregated” from the vaxxed and excluded from certain societal forums and activities. By the way, it is worth noting that African-Americans are more skeptical of the vaccine than white Americans. Whenever Covid vaccine skeptics are insulted, particularly by white leftists, remember that.
Vaccine mandates are the new segregation. Vaccination status is the new racism. When I hear Biden creepily hissing like the snake he is, I could swear I heard the voices of John Calhoun, and Jefferson Davis, and Nathan Bedford Forrest, and Roger Taney, and all the rabid, elitists Democrat racists throughout the centuries of American history echoing him. The Democrats are just as prejudiced and elitist now as they have always been; they are still the disease eating away at the splendid justice and equality at the heart of America’s founding. Only the Democrats of today are both more clever and more powerful than the Democrats of yesteryear--now they can oppress anyone of any skin color who disagrees with them, and their plantation is the entire United States.
Tucker added: ““So the point of last week’s appearance outside Chicago was to remind all of us in the country that our perceptions of Biden’s performance are silly and baseless. Actually, Joe Biden is a great President. . .And yet, according to Joe Biden, unvaccinated Americans are the root of this country's problems. They’re destroying our economy. They are killing our people. The unvaccinated, Biden said, are solely responsible for the outbreak of the delta variant of COVID, the outbreak that has left tens of thousands of Americans dead. . .They are unpatriotic. They are selfish. They are pathogens in human form. . .as they lie there ventilated, dying, reaping the rewards of their own sin, these miscreants, quote, ‘leave no room for someone with a heart attack or in need of a cancer operation.’”
