Congressional Republicans BETRAYED Their Voters by Electing McCarthy
Kevin McCarthy has a long history of corruption and backstabbing, and the majority of Republican voters supported electing someone else speaker of the House, but as usual Republicans snatched defeat from the jaws of victory and proudly threw away their historic moment to achieve vital change.
What a day it could have been! A replacement to McCarthy, even Trump, could have been elected, if only the Republican party had finally struggled out of its centuries-long tradition of settling for convenience and avoiding too much controversy. Unfortunately for the voters of this country, which is quickly turning into a Marxist dictatorship, our representatives chose instead to cave and allow Kevin McCarthy to be speaker of the House. Not a single GOP representative voted against McCarthy on the last ballot, as the last six holdouts weaseled out and voted “present.”
I wrote earlier this week about how—and why—Kevin McCarthy had to go. I explained how he had stabbed Trump in the back (and of course Trump stupidly, and against the wishes of his supporters helped McCarthy get elected); how McCarthy had abandoned the January 6 political prisoners; how he is a corrupt politician, who cares far more for power and political convenience than for principles; how he refuses to speak about stolen elections; helped destructive legislation pass; and spent millions ensuring that patriotic, hard—fighting Republican representatives and candidates would lose their Congressional seats. I guess that gambit worked well for him, since he just won the speakership of the House, thanks to the fact that not a single Republican congressman ended up being truly brave, no matter how they talked and blustered. I guess the spines they rented for the day had to be sent back early.
Any congressman who believes he worked out a deal with McCarthy is a gullible fool. You cannot make a deal with the devil. Moderate Republicans who have a history of giving Democrats what they want are not going to develop integrity all of a sudden and stick to the deals they brokered. It would be just as stupid as expecting Democrats, who have lied, cheated, and violated compromises throughout their entire history as a party, to live up to a deal. It is a simple fact of life that whoever makes concessions in a compromise is almost certain to be betrayed. It is hard to find a deal where the stronger party will not take advantage of the other party’s weakness. When are we going to learn the patently obvious fact that compromises in politics never turn out to be a good thing?
But of course, I am likely preaching to the choir. Thank God, most of my readers are probably not journalists or politicians and thus have their common sense and knowledge of reality intact. The unfortunate truth, however, is that the people in charge are living in a fantasy world of their own making, where “inevitability” supersedes integrity, where compromise is not only essential but laudatory, where our Republic is not truly at stake, because surely the next election will not be stolen and only conspiracy theorists believe it will be. Of course, there are some exceptions among journalists and politicians, but after reading social media and news releases last night I have to say there are precious few. Thank Heaven our Founding Fathers didn’t believe in bowing to “inevitability” when it seemed they could not possibly win.
And so, as the Babylon Bee so brilliantly observed, the speaker of the House has been elected and the long nightmare of corruption, useless government spending, betraying American voters, and helping lobbyists and leftists get their way has begun. They all sold us out. Every single representative in Congress eventually decided that his political career was more important than his constituents. We should flood our representatives’ offices with our opinions, so that at least while they do everything we elected them NOT to do, they cannot escape the inconvenience of knowing that we see their cowardice and despise it.
