41 Killed in Ugandan School as Mass Murder Continues in Nigeria, Congo, Elsewhere
Islam expert Robert Spencer wrote June 19, “Americans Assume the Jihad Is Over. In Africa, It’s Bloodier and More Aggressive Than Ever.” It is a tragedy that the free world continues to be largely indifferent to or ignorant of the jihads and genocides occurring in Africa, particularly against Christians. Just as the West won’t care that a top Palestinian official called a jihadi “the DNA of all the Palestinian nationalists,” the West also probably will ignore that Muslim violence in Africa is taking a horrific toll.
Between mid-May and June 8 in Nigeria, Islamic jihadis “murdered more than 300 Christians, including two pastors, and destroyed 28 churches…[they] also displaced 30,000 Christians and destroyed 2,000 homes in recent attacks, according to local sources.” And that’s just in Plateau state, which is by no means the only Nigerian state suffering from Islamic terrorism. Meanwhile, in Democratic Republic of the Congo, reported June 12, “The Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) [Muslim] terrorist group conducted a Sunday night attack in Kasindi, Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), leaving eight dead, 12 injured and many others missing.”
Below is a story about the horrific massacre in Uganda:
“[Spencer, JihadWatch] The news out of Uganda Saturday was horrifying. The Associated Press reported that authorities in that country had ‘recovered the bodies of 41 people, including 38 students, who were burned, shot or hacked to death after suspected rebels attacked a secondary school near the border with Congo.’ The rebels were members of the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), which despite its name is actually an Islamic group with ties to the Islamic State (ISIS) and aspirations of establishing a caliphate in Central and East Africa…
Uganda’s New Vision reported Saturday that only three students survived the attack. One of them, a young man named Mumbere Bright, recounted that ‘the rebels immediately shot dead the student who was at the entrance after entering the dormitory.’ He added, ‘The rebels asked for Muslims among the students, but there were none. The rebels said they do not kill fellow believers.’ After that, ‘they slaughtered every student in their sight using pangas, axes and sharp objects.’
The fact that the rebels hoped to separate Muslims from the other students before beginning their massacre is noteworthy. The Qur’an forbids Muslims to kill fellow Muslims (4:92); regarding non-Muslims, however, it repeats the injunction to ‘kill them wherever you find them’ (2:191, 4:89, cf. 9:5), although subjugating them under Islamic rule is also offered as an option (9:29). There have been many instances in which jihadis separated Muslims from a crowd before killing the non-Muslims.”
Yet the West’s main preoccupation with Uganda recently was that (gasp!) it passed legislation to execute homosexual pedophiles.
Nigeria continues to be a scene of genocide. On June 7, Father Charles Igechi was shot in the back and killed in Nigeria. And last week terrorists suspected to be members of Muslim group Boko Haram “decapitated seven farmers in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State.” That was just after Muslims murdered 46 Christians in Benue state at the start of June.
While both Muslims and Christians are targeted by Islamic militants in Nigeria, Christians are more likely to be killed than Muslims, with over 60,000 Nigerian Christians dead in the decade-long genocide there. There are also other African countries experiencing violence against or persecution of Christians, including (as noted above) Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda, Somalia, Sudan, Libya, and Eritrea. Unfortunately, very few people in the West—even devout Christians—seem to know or care.
Plateau state in Nigeria has been a bloody scene of mass murder for weeks or even months now:
“No fewer than 21 persons including a clergyman were killed in Plateau State communities during an attack on Sunday night in Rim, Jol, Kwi communities of Riyom Local Government and Gana-Ropp community in Barkin Ladi LGA.
The latest incident is coming hours after two herders who were returning from rearing were shot dead in Fas community of Riyom LGA on Sunday evening.”
Yet the United Nations last year decided Nigeria’s problem was having too many babies, and they urged a commitment of $35 million to contraceptives and “family planning” (probably abortion, knowing the UN’s love of abortion). I guess the UN figures the genocide isn’t killing enough Nigerians.
“Palestinian Authority top dog praises jihad murderer as ‘the DNA of all the Palestinian nationalists’.” The “Palestinians” not only falsely lay claim to Israel, they use any and all kinds of terrorist tactics to destroy Israel (with thousands of terrorist attacks on Israel annually).
“Sweden: Muslim migrant on welfare stabs 9-year-old girl and her grandmother [repeatedly] while screaming ‘Allahu akbar’.” Thank God the girl and her grandmother survived. The migrant was from Iran, where he had recently visited and been given military training.
“India: Muslim family threatens to murder their Hindu son-in-law unless he converts to Islam.” Muslim violence against Hindus in India is constant. Indeed, “India: Muslims harass, kill Hindu men if found with Muslim women, while luring Hindu women in the name of ‘love’.”
“On Tuesday, Putin declared that anyone who has been found guilty of burning a Qur’an would be sent to prison in one of Russia’s majority-Muslim regions. This would be tantamount to sentencing the Qur’an burners to death. Apparently, if you burn a Qur’an, Vladmir Putin wants you dead.” Putin is cozying up to Islamic dictatorships as other allies along with the genocidal Chinese Communist Party, who are his good buddies currently.
Islamic extremism is a dangerous threat worldwide. But many of jihadis’ potential targets don’t want to admit it, because that would be “Islamophobic.”
