Tesla China VP Praises China's 'Ability to Cope with Challenges'
“We have full confidence in China’s economy. . .we have seen China’s ability to cope with challenges.” —Tesla China VP Tao Lin
Conservatives are hailing billionaire Elon Musk’s purchase of Twitter as a new epoch for free speech online, due to Musk’s recent vocal condemnation of censorship. Musk’s ties to the tyrannically pro-censorship and genocidal Chinese Communist Party (CCP) through the Chinese branch of his Tesla company should raise at least a few question marks (or Marx), however. As just one instance of an important Tesla executive making concerning comments about China, look at an April 26 article from CCP state propaganda outlet Xinhua News. Xinhua cited Tesla China Vice President Tao Lin for praise of the CCP regime in an article titled, “World’s top 500 companies gradually resume production in Shanghai.”
For context, the CCP’s inhumane and cruel Covid-19 lockdowns in Shanghai have created a dystopian hellscape, with Covid positive children (even infants) and parents forcibly separated, citizens locked up in quarantine camps, people starving because they are not allowed out of their homes to get food, people committing suicide by jumping to their deaths in despair, and pets murdered by state officials. Yet a Tesla executive, during the midst of this, apparently gave Xinhua a quote praising the CCP in Shanghai!
Xinhua’s article was about various companies restarting work in their Shanghai factories after weeks of harsh lockdowns.
“U.S. carmaker Tesla’s Shanghai factory officially resumed production on April 19, with about 8,000 employees back to work thus far, the company has said. . .All factory employees will have to take a nucleic acid test each day. The company said that its production and office areas are subject to strict disinfection procedures and epidemic prevention measures are being carried out to ensure safe production.”
There are reports that Tesla Shanghai workers are operating under inhumane conditions, including being forced to sleep on the factory floors after very long hours because they are not allowed to leave the factory. Yet Xinhua turned to the Tesla China VP for praise of CCP Shanghai decisions (Tao Lin has previously said “Tesla as a company with operations in China must abide China’s laws and regulations”).
“‘We have full confidence in China’s economy,’ said Tao Lin, vice president of Tesla. ‘From the process of the current production resumption, we have seen China’s ability to cope with challenges, and we believe that normality will soon return.’
Tao said that several government departments have worked almost round the clock to help enterprises resume work and production as quickly as possible.
Tesla said it is actively promoting the resumption of production at more than 100 parts manufacturers with the help of relevant government departments.”
Isn’t propaganda wonderful? There’s nothing like calling mass oppression and murder the “ability to cope with challenges!”
