Spending Spree: McCarthy Agrees to Irresponsible Debt Ceiling Deal
Ding-dong, integrity is dead. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) shivved us in the back again and, instead of reining in the US government’s irresponsible and catastrophic spending (of our tax dollars), gave Biden a sweet deal, with the debt ceiling reportedly raised $4 trillion.
We were already spending more than we can afford. Now the spending is just getting worse. Who needs enemies when people like McCarthy and Biden are in charge?
From commentator John Fredericks and Judicial Watch president Tom Fitton:
Fitton added, “So in exchange for $4 TRILLION In new debt authorization, there is only $29 billion in initial ‘cuts’ (.725%)?”
Steve Bannon posted on Gettr, “Democrats get $14 trillion of spending over 2 years with $4Trillion added to the debt because we cannot pay for it ….this is a total cave …”
I previously covered the assessment of Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.) for PJ Media. “Whether you drive off a cliff at 60 miles per hour or 80 miles per hour, the end result is the same: a horrific crash,” Biggs described the Republicans’ plan versus the Democrats’. According to Fox News’s senior congressional correspondent, Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) considers it a “pretty darn good deal” because spending will allegedly be less this year than the year before. The important context is what Biggs previously highlighted, that spending was already grossly inflated due to Covid. Therefore, a slight cut, if there really was a cut, is not sufficient to solve the issue.
As Biggs said today, “Our national debt is a top national security threat,” and we should not raise the debt ceiling. But that’s exactly what McCarthy just did.
