Speaker Johnson Aims to Reject DOGE Cuts

If worthless gelatin spine Speaker Mike Johnson gets his way, an utterly irresponsible and bloated budget will pass without any of the much-touted Trump DOGE cuts that he promised to include and that were to slash funding for outrageous, woke, useless, and unconstitutional programs and agencies.

We the People cheered as DOGE all but shut down pro-jihad and LGBTQ- and race-obsessed USAID. We watched with satisfaction as DOGE and allies within various departments including HUD, the Education Department, the NIH, and the DOD announced millions of dollars of cuts. It seemed that, for the first time in forever, a presidential administration was actually going to make a dent in the unaffordable and encroaching federal bureaucracy.

But Mike Johnson, the perennial backstabber who plays up to MAGA before doing his very worst to ensure the government waste continues full throttle, is preparing to make Donald Trump and Elon Musk laughingstocks and to kill all hopes for major cuts. He is blaming the Democrats, but the reality is that Republicans control the House, and that if Republicans had half the aggressive persistence the Democrats do, they would be able to pass a budget with major cuts.

[The Hill, Feb. 26: Johnson] said on Wednesday that a stopgap to avert a government shutdown next month is “becoming inevitable” and that it will probably be as “clean” as possible, as both sides have struggled for weeks to strike a full-year funding deal… Johnson’s comments come as Democrats have pressed for assurances that a bipartisan funding deal that emerges from talks won’t be undercut by Trump amid his Department of Government Efficiency’s (DOGE) sweeping operation to reshape the federal government.

Unfortunately, the GOP is the party of castrati. Meanwhile our national debt is over $36.5 trillion. We need to contact our representatives and also Donald Trump, urging him not to fall for Johnson’s lies as he has so often in the past, but to insist upon DOGE cuts going into any budget. Otherwise, any efforts at reform this year are doomed to failure.
