Hamas-Backing Qatar Funds, Sponsors U.S. Universities
The Islamic government of Qatar, currently housing and backing the leaders of terrorist group Hamas (responsible for the Oct. 7 atrocities on Israeli civilians), funds multiple U.S. Ivy League universities. Indeed, six universities actually have campuses in Qatar.
According to Campus Reform, Carnegie Mellon University, Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar, Georgetown University, Northwestern University, Texas A&M University, and Virginia Commonwealth University all have campuses in Qatar. Many universities in America receive funding from Qatar, which ought to be recognized for what it is: a state sponsor of terrorism. In fact, Qatar is one of Hamas’s biggest funders, and Hamas aren’t the only terrorists Qatar has supported.
While Campus Reform specifically mentions a former Hamas leader living in Qatar, Fox News reported on multiple Hamas leaders living there.
“Qatar, the current residence of Hamas’ former leader, has been the largest Arab donor to American universities for decades. Not only do six leading American universities have campuses in Qatar, but they also receive hundreds of millions from ruling elites.
At least six American universities have campuses in the country of Qatar…Reportedly, these universities struck a bargain with Qatari leaders to allow Qatari residents to receive American degrees without having to travel overseas. The Washington Post reported in 2015 that these institutions receive a total of more than $320 million each year in exchange…
Campus Reform previously reported that Ivy League universities were among the top recipients of $8.5 billion in Arab funding over 35 years. Now, student groups at recipient colleges have come out in support of Hamas’ Oct. 7 attack on Israel.”
Qatar also has considerable media influence in the West through its state-owned propaganda outlet Al Jazeera, which continually and enthusiastically promotes and defends terrorists—particularly terrorism against Israel.
No American university should have anything to do with Qatar, which actively supports terrorism.
