As Lockdowns Kill in Shanghai, Russian Expert Praises CCP's 'Zero-Covid Policy'
Exclusive: “A Russian expert has spoken highly of China’s COVID-19 response, hailing it as a ‘generally positive experience that the world has.’ Facing the continued threat of the pandemic, China has stuck to its dynamic zero-COVID policy in tackling resurgences to protect the lives and health of its people,” claimed an April 14 video from Chinese Communist Party (CCP) state propaganda outlet Xinhua News.
The video was posted at a time when the 28 million residents of Shanghai, China, are suffering under lockdown conditions so strict and inhuman that people are literally starving to death, imprisoned in quarantine camps, or committing suicide (not to mention reports of parents and Covid-positive children forcibly separated and pets being killed by the CCP).
One chilling video apparently records many Shanghai residents screaming out their windows after not being allowed to leave their homes for a week. According to SupChina, Shanghai was only one of several cities that were on Covid lockdown as of March 14. Republic World reported that millions of Chinese in the northeast were being put under strict lockdown. Are those cities still on lockdown, like Shanghai?
Meanwhile two tyrannical regimes, Russia and China, teamed up to produce shameless propaganda praising Covid measures that are leading to deaths, imprisonment, suicide, and other tragedies. In fact, Xinhua shamelessly posted another video the same day as the abovementioned video (April 14—today), praising the work of “community staff” caring for isolated elderly people in a Shanghai neighborhood.
According to Armstrong Economics:
“People are starving in Shanghai. The screams heard in the disturbing video above are due to more than mere frustration. China placed millions under a strict lockdown that was initially supposed to last for five days. As cases allegedly spread, China extended the lockdown indefinitely under their zero-COVID tolerance policy.
Those who prepared for a five-day lockdown are now rationing what food and water they have left. The tap water is not necessarily safe for consumption, and people have begun to boil water if they have the means to do so. According to my sources, people living within communities rally together to buy bulk food orders when possible for a premium. China is offering a closed-loop system for some workers, who must live at their job site for the remainder of the lockdown. Therefore, workers are in short supply, and demand is extremely high. Hungry citizens typically log on to food delivery apps early in the morning and usually only have a few minutes to place their bulk orders. The food they receive is carefully rationed as the next meal is not guaranteed.
The barter system always emerges in times of disaster. People are trading with one another where possible, although they are forbidden from actually leaving their residences. No one is permitted to visit relatives or check on the elderly or disabled. Worse, people are unable to access medical care or prescription drugs. The government continues to provide rationed food, but its rollout has been so ineffective that most simply do not have access to food.
China will allow its people to die from dehydration and starvation to protect them from a virus with a negligible death rate. This is how revolutions begin. [emphasis added]”
The New York Post wrote:
“Other protests have taken more tragic forms. As they did in Wuhan two years ago, people are once again jumping off the balconies of high-rise apartment buildings. . .Those desperate enough to venture outside in their search for food are hunted down by ‘Big Whites’ — members of the security forces who owe their nickname to the white hazmat suits they wear. Patrolling the streets day and night, the ‘Big Whites’ arrest and jail anyone caught breaking quarantine, who often get beaten in the process. . .No one, not even small children, is exempted from the quarantine rule. Hundreds of infants and toddlers have been separated from their parents after testing positive.”
Either China is lying about what virus is in Shanghai, or it is killing people because of a very survivable virus. And even if the virus there were far more deadly than Covid-19, the CCP’s inhuman and deadly lockdown measures would still be thoroughly unjust. From Xinhua’s video:
“A Russian expert has spoken highly of China’s COVID-19 response, hailing it as a ‘generally positive experience that the world has.’ Facing the continued threat of the pandemic, China has stuck to its dynamic zero-COVID policy in tackling resurgences to protect the lives and health of its people, instead of choosing to ‘live with’ the virus.”
Ah, yes, so dynamic! So caring for health! That’s why heaven knows how many people were screaming out their windows after one week of lockdown in Shanghai, and why people there are starving to death or jumping from balconies. Because the CCP cares about the lives and health of its people.
“[Russian expert] ‘China has rich experience in tackling the COVID-19. It is very tough, I would even say, in some cases, and affects the economy. Unfortunately, there is no other way out, because the other way is a slow exit from the coronavirus. And, unfortunately, for example, many European countries tried to do everything gently, without affecting their own businesses, and they came to the fact that the pandemic actually dragged on for two years.”
And the pandemic hasn’t lasted for two years in China? Last I checked, Shanghai was still on strict lockdown because of Covid. How has China’s policy shorted the pandemic at all? China did start the pandemic, though—after all, Covid-19 almost certainly came out of a Wuhan lab. And to pretend there is “no other way out” is ridiculous. Once there is a virus, it will never completely go away. Fortunately, Covid-19 has about a 99% survival rate—unless you have no food, no medicine, and no hope, of course, like Shanghai’s residents.
“[Russian expert] Therefore, we can talk about toughness only if a country really wants to save its economy. That is, on the one hand, indeed, some industries in China saw suspension and were affected in a short time; but from a strategic perspective, this is absolutely justified, as, for example, it happened in Wuhan. Therefore, I believe that such tough measures are absolutely justified.’”
There are people dying because of tyrannical lockdown measures for a virus with around a 99% survival rate. That is NOT “justified.” But trust a member of the regime (Russia) invading Ukraine and slaughtering Ukrainians to support the genocidal CCP.
“The expert also stressed the importance of vaccination in effectively reducing death or severe conditions for infected people, especially the vulnerable group. [Russian expert] ‘Vaccination must be implemented everywhere. It will take effect in a country when most people no longer get sick, or get sick with a mild symptom. And when we now say that many outbreaks of COVID go unnoticed, of course, this is bad, but, on the other hand, this suggests that vaccinated people can easily endure it. And, most importantly, it extends to people who have chronic diseases, to the elderly. In general, it saves lives.’”
China has claimed that 1.24 billion out of its 1.41 billion citizens were fully vaccinated against Covid-19 as of mid-March. Then how to explain, if the vaccines are so effective, the fact that Shanghai and other major cities in China are on lockdown because of Covid again? Furthermore, studies have shown that vaccines make one more likely, not less likely, to get Covid. And back in December, 9 independent researchers had estimated that around 150,000 had died from Covid vaccines just in the US. Imagine what the number must be worldwide—especially China.
The CCP’s zero-Covid policy is not justified. It is evil.
