Are June’s Illegal Alien Numbers REALLY Low? Here’s the Context
Everyone online interested in the border crisis, including many conservatives, seems to be reporting on how June’s illegal alien crossing numbers were at a three-year low. But there’s tens of thousands of illegals the Biden administration brought in who aren’t counted in that “low” statistic.
Border Patrol apprehended 87,670 illegal aliens at the southern border in June, the lowest number since January 2021, when Biden took office and began dismantling Trump-era border security. Apparently the border crisis is so bad that 87,000 barely vetted foreign lawbreakers in one month are considered cause for celebration, simply because it has been worse. For instance, in May 2024, “the U.S. Border Patrol recorded over 117,900 encounters between ports of entry along the southwest border.” That was reportedly a drop of 9% from April.
But before you get excited, there’s something you should know. In June, almost 100,000 more migrants entered the U.S. than are included in the apprehensions stat above.
