Animals Dying, People Sick in Wake of Chem Burn in Ohio - Gov’t ‘Nuked’ a Town to Open Railroad
A 20-car train carrying hazardous chemicals derailed Feb. 3 and spilled the dangerous chemicals into both the air and possibly the water supply in Ohio. One expert described the burn of the chemicals the government hastily and stupidly initiated to get the railway open as “nuk[ing] a town with chemicals.” Much later than he should have, the governor warned residents to drink only bottled water, thousands of animals are dying, and humans are developing worrying symptoms. The town of East Palestine and the farmland around it may well have to be abandoned. And yet—where are the environmentalists?
Where is the Biden administration, that never stops lecturing about preserving the environment and saving wildlife? Why is woke pontificator and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg missing in action? Why is the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) claiming all is safe when residents find themselves coughing, itching, and their heads aching as animals die? Why is there such silence from the climate crazies? Do they not care, being hypocrites? Are they happy for anything that puts a bad name on chemicals and hurts humans? What exactly is going on, and will the residents suffer long term damage?
A resident and local kennel owner, Katlyn Schwarzwaelder, whose property abuts on the derailment, told Glenn Beck Feb. 15 that the area was like a “war zone.” She said only an independent tester came to test for chemicals and tried to get her to sign a contract essentially disclaiming any future ability to hold anyone liable for the derailment and controlled burn, and though she didn’t sign it hundreds of residents did out of desperation. Schwarzwaelder said the EPA refused to test themselves, but she didn’t know why. She insisted that she not only knows multiple people whose animals died, and her dogs needed emergency care after having to wait a couple days to be evacuated, but humans can’t safely live there.
Schwarzwaelder said it was so unbearable being on her property for half an hour that, with the prospect of the air and water supply worsening, she plans never to go back. She was very worried about poorer residents who were unable to evacuate because of how physically uncomfortable it was just to be in the area, since it’s supposed to get worse, and also said she doesn’t know what to do, because her 27 or so acres and kennel facilities have become practically worthless and she fears it’s impossible for her to buy another property for her dogs and horse to live on. Meanwhile the EPA does nothing but issue inaccurate reassurances.
Considering that many “green” solutions are actually worse for the environment, and that climate alarmism is often used to fundraise or extend government power, we shouldn’t be surprised if real environmental damage doesn’t interest leftists unless it can be turned to political profit (the tragedy in Ohio apparently cannot). Another interesting point is that environmentalists have actually deliberately caused train derailments and railway sabotage before, even though they harm the environment, supposedly in pursuit of a long term goal of saving the planet. Such activists (with whom the Biden administration would sympathize in principle if not in practice) only care when it suits their political ideology.
“[New York Post, Feb. 14] Pets and wildlife — including an estimated 3,500 fish — are dying in the wake of the toxic train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio, according to reports, as residents become more worried the spill could have long-term effects on their health.
A train carrying 20 cars containing hazardous chemicals derailed on Feb. 3 with 10 of the cars toppling over, spilling noxious chemicals into the air and water supply. Five of the cars were carrying toxic vinyl chloride, which was subsequently burned to prevent an explosion.
‘We basically nuked a town with chemicals so we could get a railroad open,’ hazardous materials specialist Sil Caggiano told local outlet WKBN, adding some of the other hazardous materials spilled in the train crash are dangerous to humans…Local fox and chicken keepers have also reported their animals becoming sluggish, losing feathers and dying — some miles away from the crash site.
Ohio Humane Society officials are being flooded with sick animal calls…some are relaying fatalities.
McGuire said she has received unconfirmed reports of chickens and dogs bearing what appear to be chemical burns.”
Humans are experiencing issues too, including bad headaches, sore throats, and wooziness, which matches what Schwarzwaelder told Beck. The National Cancer Institute previously discovered a link between long term vinyl chloride exposure like is happening in Ohio and brain, liver, and lung cancers.
Did the local government and railway create an American Chernobyl, with the Biden regime covering for them?
Here's a news flash, they did NOT nuke your town.
It was destroyed when that train derailed.
Whether they set it on fire or not, those chemicals are there to get you.
Get out NOW while you are still healthy.
